Ordering Information

(Please read all information thoroughly!)


General Information:

February 2010 - This updated website cancels all previous quotes, listings, and catalogs.

Plants are shipped in 2½" pots (miniatures in 2¼") usually ready to bud or bloom. At times, some varieties may be smaller due to heavy demand! (Tiny minis, or micro-minis, may be potted in "thumb" pots.) During the hot summer months, African violets described as having variegated foliage, may not show much variegation. Please be assured, the variegation will return with cooler weather.

Note: Leaves are available thru mail-order only. We do not offer leaves for sale at the greenhouses. Sorry, no exceptions will be made.


Minimum order:

3 plants or 10 leaf packages. We prefer you do not mix plants and leaves together in the same order. If ordering together, use postage rates for plants.

 

Our Shipping Policy:

Summertime Shipments: (from approximately April 15th to November 15th) our weather permitting. During these months, we ship either by: US Post Office "Priority Mail", or by UPS (Ground or Second Day Air) Your choice! We guarantee SAFE delivery! During the months of July and August, some shipments may be delayed to areas where the weather is extremely hot.

NOTE: Orders sent to us during the winter months by customers that want to "get in line early" for Summertime Shipments (and do not want "Winter Shipping") are accumulated and held. Please make sure you state this on your order! When our weather does permit, orders are then mailed out to our customers in the same sequence in which we received them. Once we have finished shipping the backlog of accumulated orders (usually in June) incoming orders are shipped out right away.

Wintertime Shipments: (from approximately November 15th to April 15th) our weather permitting. During these months, we ship exclusively by US Post Office "Express Mail" (No UPS service is available during this time) We guarantee SAFE delivery! Plants are shipped in insulated boxes, with heat packs inside to maintain warmth. Plants are usually shipped within 1 week of receiving your order, unless we experience extremely cold weather. In this case, we will hold your order until the temperatures moderate back upwards, so that conditions are more favorable for survival.

Reminder: We ship plants only on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to protect them from setting idle over weekends! Please be patient!


Payment:

1) Payment in full must accompany all orders. We accept Mastercard, Visa, money orders, cashier's checks, and personal checks. (If you are a new customer and paying by personal check, we reserve the right to delay your order until your check clears the bank!)

2) If you are using a credit card, be sure to give us your full account number, the expiration date, and the security code (located on the back of your card), in order for us to accurately process your order. Credit card orders are charged on the day when your order is packed and shipped. Checks are cashed upon receipt of your order.

Phone orders are taken Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Eastern Time), only. We are not adequately staffed to take phone orders on weekends.

Sales Tax:

New York State residents, please add the applicable combined state and local sales tax for your county, on the total sum of your order, including shipping charges. Please, when filling out your order form, include the name of your county and your Tax rate.(i.e. 7%, 8½%, 8¾%).

 

Substitutions:

High demand for some varieties make occasional substitutions a necessity. Though it does not happen often, we can at times, temporarily deplete our supply of the more popular varieties. While we are waiting for these young plantlets to grow to adequate shipping size, and, so that your order will not be delayed, please list 1 or 2 alternate choices to be used, only if absolutely necessary. If no alternate choices are listed, the selection, if necessary, will be our choice. If you request "no substitutions", a refund will be sent to you in the form of a credit slip to be used on your next order, providing the refund is $10.00 or less. Any refund over $10.00 will be by check.

 

Phone Numbers:

Please provide us with a daytime phone number, just in case there is a question regarding your order. We do not give out, or sell, our customers phone numbers or addresses to anyone!

 

Vacation Dates:

It would be helpful if you provide us with instructions regarding vacation dates, etc., so plants do not arrive when no one is there to receive them.

 

Gift Certificates:

Gift certificates are available year round, and a wonderful way to show how much you care for that someone special! A current catalog will be included. Don't forget, birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, or just to say 'Thank You'!

 

Shipping Charges:

Note: You must choose the shipping carrier for your order! You may choose to have your order shipped by the US Post Office, (priority mail service), - or - by UPS, (using either ground service or 2nd day air service.) Please refer to the "Postage charts" for pricing. If you do not choose a carrier, we will pick one for you. If you are in question regarding your correct shipping charges, please contact us. Please NOTE: When choosing UPS as your carrier, we reserve the right to pass on fees charged to us for incomplete and/or wrong addresses. These fees are currently set at: $6.00 for Ground Service / $10.00 for 2nd Day Air Service.

Canadian Shipping Information:

Shipping is at CUSTOMER'S RISK ONLY! Due to Rules and Regulations set by your Department of Agriculture, we can only ship plants during the months of May and October. There can be no exceptions! A phytosanitary certificate is required by your Department of Agriculture for plants to enter Canada from the United States. For information and instructions on how to order from us, visit our "Canadian Ordering Information" page for details. All orders are sent USPS EXPRESS MAIL.

New policy for 2008: We are being told by our inspectors, that we can avoid these strict rules for potted plants, by shipping leaves and/or crowns (chimeras). So, if you are willing to re-root leaves and crowns, we will be able to ship to you during the months of May through October! Companion plants can also be done this way.

 

International Shipping Information:

Shipping is at CUSTOMER'S RISK ONLY! Plants are shipped bare root unless your country allows otherwise. Payment in US FUNDS must accompany order. IMPORT PERMITS must be provided if required by your country. We provide a PHYTOSANITARY CERTIFICATE upon shipment. Guarantees:

We guarantee all plants to be true to identity. We make every effort possible to maintain the highest standards of quality. Having no control over the plants after they leave our greenhouses, we give no warranty, expressed or implied, as to their productiveness or health in the hands of the purchaser. All listings are subject to availability. We cannot guarantee that all items listed will be in stock when you place your order, due to unexpected demand.

 

Damaged Shipments:

We guarantee safe arrival of your plants! We take great care to wrap and pack your order to protect it from the possible mishandling during transit. In spite of all our efforts, leaf breakage sometimes occurs. You can use those leaves to start more plants if you wish, removing any additional leaves to reshape the plant. Leaf breakage can happen when you're shipping something as fragile as an African violet. A few broken leaves is not reasonable grounds for replacement of plants! We can only guarantee a "viable" crown on african violets! If plants are badly damaged, frozen or heat burned, please notify us immediately! Do not discard plants until you have talked with us. Sorry, we do not give cash refunds!

If you have questions about plants that you would like answered, we will be happy to help you! We ask that you please call us rather than e-mailing. We are unable to answer letters in a timely manner, due to the size of our staff, and the extremely long hours we work. We thank you for your understanding.

 

Cancellation of orders:

There will be a $10.00 fee for all cancellations, if your order has already been processed, picked or pre-packaged!
